Dallas Recorder Society

Welcome to the Dallas Recorder Society, a chapter of the American Recorder Society!  We are a group of recorder players from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area who support the missions of the National ARS to:

  • Promote the recorder and its music by developing resources and standards to help people of all ages and ability levels to play and study recorder
  • Present the instrument to new constituencies
  • Encourage increased career opportunities for professional performers and teachers
  • Enable and support recorder playing as a shared social experience

The group promotes interest in the recorder and its music, both early and modern, while giving players an opportunity to meet other players and make music together.

Monthly Meetings

Our monthly meetings are held regularly from September through May, at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. The meetings take place at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75205, in Room 238.

We begin our meetings with a short musical program performed by local area professionals or by DRS chapter members, followed by an hour or so of consort playing usually led by our Music Director.

We encourage new beginners to come play beside our more experienced players! Whether you are a pro, play for fun, haven’t played since grade school or have never played before, come join the Dallas Recorder Society for music, fellowship, and great fun!  Please visit our Membership area for more information on how to join.
